Connect with Us!
Please click on the button and fill out our Connection Form so we know you worshipped with us online.
We love that you are able to join us in online worship! But we miss connecting in person. We invite you to reach out to Pastor Scott or Pastor Kristina with prayer requests, joys and concerns or just to tell us that you worshipped with us.
The people of Lovely Lane UMC humbly strive to be light, love and leaven to the world.
We stand with those who are devalued in our society because of their color, gender, marital status, creed, sexual orientation, age, physical or mental ability, immigration status or economic condition.
We serve those in our neighborhood and our community who are in need of food, housing, education, or health care.
We heal the world through collaboration with the national and international missions of the United Methodist Church, because where our hands cannot be, our hearts can.”

Lovely Lane News
From Pastor Kristina – May 2023
Things always seem to go wrong at the most inconvenient times, don’t they? You get pulled over for speeding when you’re late dropping your child off to school. You hit all the red lights and then come to locked doors at the post office when you need to get something...
Going on a Trip – from Pastor Scott
"'Come, follow me,' he said, 'and I'll show you how to fish for people.'" – Matthew 4:19 (CEB) The summer months are almost here! This wonderful time invites us to enjoy the great outdoors and visit places we have never been. As some of us prepare for a vacation, we...
From Pastor Kristina – April 2023
Lent is certainly not the joy and peace of Advent, is it? We just celebrated that time of year it seems like. Christmas carols, movies, chocolates and candy, gift giving, decorating, etc. Lent doesn’t necessarily bring that. This season is the transition to spring as...
The Love Commandment – from Pastor Scott
The Love Commandment “I give you a new commandment: Love each another. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other.” – John 13:34 (CEB) This reading from John’s Gospel brings us to the night Jesus gathered with the disciples in the Upper Room. Scripture...
A Devotion in Gratitude
A recent story on the radio was about a woman trying to save her dog who had fallen into an icy lake. Every time the dog tried to get out, the ice broke and the pooch was back in frigid water again. In her love for the dog, she carefully slid out over the frozen water...
Ash Wednesday Marked the Beginning of the Season of Lent – by Pastor Kristina
Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of the season of Lent, this period of 40 days and 40 nights. Right, it’s the journey to the cross. It’s a solemn season. We just celebrated the birth of Christ, and now our attention turns to his death by crucifixion. We recognize...
Learning to Live Inside Out – by Pastor Scott
Saint Augustine, the Fourth Century Bishop of Hippo, wrote in his book, Confessions, “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.” Over the centuries these words have described the human condition. Many of us have...
Faith from the Start
How do we begin to know, carry, and grow faith? We start from the beginning. A newborn learns that faith can be trusted or can feel like a betrayal. The adults who care for the child teach this every moment of every day almost always without thinking about it. Babies...
A Blessing for When You’re Exhausted – from Pastor Kristina
A Blessing For When You’re Exhausted In my conversations with so many of you, you find yourself exhausted in the midst of this season. You’re pulled in so many directions. Work is busy, the chores need tending to, you’re driving your children from one place to...
Thinking Big – from Pastor Scott
Growing up in Illinois, I became familiar with Daniel Hudson Burnham. Burnham was a prominent city planner and architect. He played a major role in the development of the city of Chicago back in the day. He crafted a powerful vision of what a major American city might...
