Scott has been Lead Pastor at Lovely Lane since 2018. Previous appointments include churches in Epworth, Solon, and Independence. He enjoys helping others deepen their spiritual lives and discern areas to share the faith. Scott is married to Heather and has two adult daughters. He enjoys golf and watching movies in his spare time. Community involvement includes Downtown Rotary, Junior Achievement, and the Matthew 25 Advisory Board.

Charlie Kucera

Handbell Director

My name is Charlie Kucera, and I have served at Lovely Lane as Director of Handbells since January 2019. Before my position here, I have served in a number of settings. I have sung with Opera Cedar Rapids and Orchestra Iowa here in town. Previously, I have performed and conducted in Iowa, Texas, Washington state, Germany, and England. I also compose and arrange music for the bell choir, known as AcabeLLa. I am married, and my wife is also in the bell choir. We also enjoy traveling. I am an avid kayaker and camper.

Annie Walker is our Director of Family Ministries. She grew up north of Marion and went to Linn-Mar High School from K-12 grade. She has an associate’s degree in Elementary Education and a bachelor’s degree in History. She is currently working on her Masters of Divinity at University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. Annie has a partner, Ben, and is the bonus mom of a 4-year-old, Beau and mom of a brand new baby, Brooks. Annie also serves at Salem United Methodist Church in Van Horne, Iowa, as a part-time pastor. As part of her role as Director of Family Ministries, she directs both Kids’ Club and Sunday School programs and a Women’s Bible Study on Wednesdays. After three years in Lovely Lane United Methodist Church, I have been looking for a place where I can best serve. I have enjoyed all the opportunities that I have been asked to take part in, the LaMB group, Women of Faith, book studies, Choir, and even Living Last Supper. But taking the position of Youth Ministry Leader has me most excited. The chance to meet and get to know our youth, all while helping them in their spiritual journey. This is extraordinary opportunity for me to share in the lives of our youth. My plans are to help others to see their paths to serve and have a lot of fun along the way.

Shelly designed the Lovely Lane website and is responsible for its hosting and maintenance. She also manages the church’s social media accounts and occasionally helps out with other design and communications tasks. She is married to Brian and they have two boys. She has served in various roles in the church including the Green Team, bell choir, missions chair and stewardship chair. Shelly owns a digital marketing business specializing in web design, social media, and online advertising.

If it has a light, a button, or a dial, Eric Wylie is your guy. Eric provides a variety of technical services to support the missions and ministries of the church, including live and recorded audio and video production, live streaming of worship services and other events, technology and computer assistance, internal digital signage, and the church’s outdoor digital sign. Eric has been a member of Lovely Lane since 1999 and has been the Audio/Visual point of contact since 2009. Eric collaborates with the pastors in planning weekly worship and other events and services, and has been active in the church music department. Outside of his church work, Eric is a corporate video producer and voiceover artist through his business Wylie.Video. With all that he does, Eric says his most important role is being a husband and father.
