Children are very important at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church.
The pastors, our Director of Family Ministries and all church staff work hard to provide a variety of fun and engaging opportunities for children and families.
Sunday School and Worship
Lovely Lane offers Sunday School opportunities for children Pre-K through 5th grade and adults during the school year. In addition our worship services include a special time with the pastors in each worship service, where a special message is shared. Visit the About Our Worship page to learn more.
Families and children gather on Wednesday evenings during the school year for food, fellowship, and singing. Each Wednesday evening starts off with a home-cooked family meal followed by age-appropriate Kids Club classes.
Kids Club is a mid-week program offered to children preschool-5th grade as an opportunity to grow in their faith and friendship with others. Children are divided into small groups for stories, crafts, games, and singing. (Learn more about our current programming for Wednesday evening activities.)
Choirs / Musical Presentations
Children’s choirs learn their music during Kids Club and Sunday Morning Sunday School gatherings. These choirs share their musical praise in occasional Sunday Worship Services.
This is a vital and busy ministry that directs the Before and After School Enrichment (B.A.S.E.) program, the Summer Program, and the Lovely Lane and Trinity Lane Preschool programs. Follow those links to learn more about each program.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Each summer for 5 evenings, children through 5th grade go on a learning adventure through a variety of crafts, food, singing, and playing styles all centered around an exciting theme to learn more about how much God loves us all! On the Sunday following VBS, the children share what they learned and present their favorite new VBS songs in Sunday morning worship.
Read and Feed
Throughout the year, different age levels are invited to the church to read and share their favorite books with friends, have a snack and do other fun activities.
Stay up late! Eat! Watch a movie! And sleep (hopefully!) in the church ALL NIGHT! This opportunity is offered to different age groups once each year. Watch the newsletter and announcements for more information.
There are many opportunities to attend a United Methodist Camp in Iowa. Lovely Lane usually provides ‘camperships’ each year, available to help kids pay for camp. Learn more about the Iowa United Methodist Camp and Retreat Centers on the Iowa Conference website.
