Each fall, the women of Lovely Lane gather at a location away from the church to study, pray, worship and share in fellowship. Some retreats are only for a day and in town, other years overnight trips take place not far away.

United Women in Faith

In March 1869, the Women’s Foreign Missionary Society was founded. In March 2019, United Methodist Women turned 150 years old. In March 2022, United Methodist Women became United Women in Faith—a new name to better reflect how we answer our calling today. We remain women united by God’s love in our mission to support women, children and youth, and commit to an even greater inclusivity, action and impact. The Women’s Division had been on the cutting edge of ministries to women and children as an integral part of our history. Nearly 90 national mission institutions across the U.S. still empower women, care for children, educate youth, house the neglected, advocate for social justice, create economic opportunities, and change neighborhoods. Our international work empowers women and youth to find local solutions and make positive, measurable change in their communities.

Lovely Lane United Methodist Women is now United Women in Faith! The renaming is part of a refreshing of the organization that includes an array of new and improved programs to nurture current members and welcome new women to join to put their love in action on behalf of women, children, and youth. United Women in Faith seeks to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship, and education so that they can inspire, influence, and impact local and global communities.

The changes are designed to address the different needs and life stages of current members and new women and expand options for membership and engagement. The new name also aims to welcome current members whose local churches may choose to disaffiliate from The United Methodist Church as well as women of other faith traditions who want to join.
