Youth ministries at Lovely Lane UMC range from 6th Grade to 12th grade.

Confirmation

Happening every other year, youth in 7th and 8th grade are invited to participate in Confirmation Class. It meets every Wednesday evening from September through April from 6:00-7 PM. Our curriculum is broken into 4 main sessions: Love God, Love Self, Love Others, and Mentoring. Throughout the year, each class session will be based in one of these 4 main areas, focused on a lesson, a spiritual practice, a service opportunity, and a session with their mentor. Lessons span over doctrine and theology, the history of the United Methodist Church, and spirituality. Additionally, the youth go on field trips to experience a wide variety of different worship communities, go on a fall retreat, and participate in service opportunities in the city. Each student will have a personal faith mentor to round out the experience. The next Confirmation class will take place during the 2025-2026 school year. School Year Youth Activities

Wednesday Night Youth:

 Lovely Lane UMC and St. Pauls UMC students combine on Wednesday nights for our youth group activities, where we focus on their theological development. We also start by sharing our highs and lows, then do a game or activity, and then a lesson related to what our churches are discussing in worship. Students gather for the Wednesday night meal at Lovely Lane at 5:30, and then we transport students to St. Paul’s at 6pm. Programming is 6:30 to 7:30pm, with student pick up at St. Pauls

Sunday afternoon Youth Co-op:

Each Sunday our church partners with the Youth Co-op to do our Sunday youth activity. 
The Youth Co-Op is a safe and loving ecumenical youth group for all students 6-12th grade. We embrace all students no matter race, abilities, ethnicities, gender identities, expressions, and sexual orientations. We provide opportunities for fun, learning activities, faith and spirituality exploration, and service to the community. Our partner churches include: Lovely Lane UMC, People’s Church UU, St. Mark’s UMC , St. Paul’s UMC, St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, and Trinity St James UMC. We meet Sunday’s during the school year from 4:00-6:00 pm.

Summer Youth Activities

Each summer, we take a break from our normal youth group rhythm, and switch to a summer schedule. Each summer we offer a middle school trip (June) and a high school trip (July) for students to go on. We also offer three youth hang-out opportunities throughout the months of June and July, and then take a break in the month of August before we pick back up our normal school rhythm in September.
