Membership Information Privacy Policy

This Policy explains how we collect, use and protect the personal information of our members and regular attendees (for the purpose of this Policy, “members”) through our online church information management system, including member profiles, the membership directory, giving tools, and other components. This policy applies to all members who have provided their personal information to us for inclusion in the church information management system.

Collection of Personal Information

Member profiles, member giving records, and membership directory contains personal information such as photos, names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, birthdays and anniversary dates of members and their families. This information is collected directly from persons who have voluntarily provided this information to be included.

Use of Personal Information

The personal information collected in the church information management system is used solely for the purpose of communicating with members and facilitating member connections. This includes sending newsletters, event invitations, prayer requests, financial information, and other important updates related to the activities and ministries of The Lovely Lane United Methodist Church.

Protection of Personal Information

We take the protection of personal information very seriously. All personal information collected is stored on secure servers, and access to this information is limited to authorized individuals who require access to perform their duties. Additionally, all access to the church information management system is controlled by the church administrators.

Access to Personal Information

Members may access their own personal information in the church information management system through a mobile app or members’ website through which they create a unique login. Only members and regular attendees who have been authorized by the administrators will be granted access. Access to the church information management system may be removed by the directory administrators for any reason or no reason, at any time.

Rules of Use

You agree to use your access to the church information management system in a manner that is lawful, ethical, and in accordance with this Policy and the Terms of Use.

You agree not to:

  • Use such access for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
  • Use such access to harm or defraud any person or entity.
  • Use such access to spam, harass, or abuse any person or entity.
  • Use such access to upload or distribute any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Use such access to impersonate any person or entity.

User Generated Content

Some of the content on the church information management system may be generated by users, such as reviews and comments. You agree that you are solely responsible for any user generated content that you submit. We do not endorse or guarantee the accuracy or quality of any user generated content.

Sharing of Personal Information

We will not share any personal information collected in the church information management system with any third parties without the explicit consent of the individual member.

Retention of Personal Information

Personal information collected in the church information management system will be retained for as long as the individual remains a member, and for a reasonable period thereafter, as may be required or recommended by United Methodist Church rules and policies..

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username) with the assistance of the Administrators. Website administrators can also see and edit that information, except for user-created passwords for the church information management system.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
