Our goals for next year will include rebuilding the United Women in Faith section of the Lovely Lane Library. The UWF Reading Program consists of 5 categories: Leadership Development, Social Action, Education for Mission, Nurturing for Community, and Spiritual Growth. There are about 30 recommended books for each category that emphasize the purpose and goals of The United Women in Faith. We will be choosing more books to purchase for our library.

Our bake sale in November resulted in more than $700 in proceeds. Thank you to all who provided baked goods, donated cash or purchased items. Your support will help us meet our goals . The Elizabeth Circle met on November 18th. We had 9 women in attendance where we had an insightful discussion about famous women in history and women who have made a difference in our lives.

This year our emphasis is on climate justice and sustainability as well as human rights and human trafficking. If you  have a suggestion for a speaker, please contact Deb Streff at debstreff@gmail.com.

Topics that have been requested for 2025 include:

  • Labor Trafficking and Fair Trade (will be open to all adults which includes junior and senior high school students)
  • Sex Trafficking
  • Dementia Friends (working with the men’s group and will be open to all adults which includes junior and high school students)
  • Joy based on the Book of Joy by the Dalai Lama
  • Programs of Giving
  • Book Discussions from UWFaith Library

We will surpass our goal for giving to National United Women in Faith and we will also be able to donate to church and local charities as determined by the board. Discussion to determine donations as we approach the end of our year will be finalized in December.

In December we will have one meeting on Thursday, December 12th at 1:00pm. This meeting will be held at the home of Deb Streff, 1212 Bredel Hill Dr NW, Cedar Rapids. This is located in Methwick Retirement. Bring a snack to share. Call Deb at 319-721-8864 with questions. We will talk about some of the library books we wish to purchase to add to our library. We will also work on our plans to help with Kids’ Club on Wednesday, December 18th. We will prepare the meal for Kids’ Club and assist with activities that night.

Please join us! And invite a friend! Did you know United Women in Faith is open to all denominations? Some of our members attend other churches in the area. All are welcome!
